Ceremonies: Weddings and Handfastings

Interfaith/Interspiritual Weddings
In an interfaith or interspiritual ceremony, the traditions of each individual and as created by the couple are honored through traditions, music, and ritual in a way that is warm and inclusive, stressing the love and common ground that brings each of you together. Interfaith weddings offer the opportunity to bring understanding and compassion by keeping focus on the love that joins us on your wedding day. It is my distinct pleasure to work with each couple to create a ceremony that honors both of you.

Please feel free to inquire about having me co-officiate with other clergy or with a friend or family member.

Handfastings
An old Pagan ritual of marriage, handfastings originated in Scotland and have recently become popular amongst today’s Pagans and those of other faiths, typically as an addition to a civil ceremony. In a handfasting, the couple’s wrists are tied together at least through the end of the ceremony. The tradition of a handfasting has a rich history, and I am honored to help you create a handfasting ceremony that is tailor-made to suit you as a couple.

Same-Sex Weddings
Your one-of-a-kind ceremony can incorporate meaningful elements from your relationship, no matter the kind! Inviting loved ones to participate in your ceremony offers the opportunity to foster a sense of community, acceptance, and the unbreakable ties of love that overcome any adversity. I would be thrilled to unite these qualities and so many more into your same-sex ceremony and to create a wonderful, heartfelt wedding full of love and celebration.

GREAT NEWS: Same-sex marriage is legal in Maryland as of New Year 2013!

Spiritual, Non-Religious Weddings
Today, more and more people are embracing a non-traditional spiritual life without religious conviction, often a blend of elements from diverse sources to create an enriching and unique relationship with the Divine. It is my joy to create a wedding ceremony that synthesizes your spiritual journeys and honor your traditions of origin, to help celebrate a love that called you to make this commitment.

Vow Renewals
Whether you’ve recently eloped or you’re about to celebrate a milestone anniversary year, commemorate your wedding day with a vow renewal! Make your ceremony as beautiful and memorable experience for you and your spouse with a small celebration attended by closest family and friends or a huge gala with everyone you could think of. Whatever you decide, a vow renewal is the perfect way to reaffirm your love for one another.
